Information we may receive

At launch, First Dog does not require you to create an account and we are not using a newsletter signup or advertising-profile system.

  • Information you send us: if you email First Dog, we receive the information in your message, normally including your email address and anything else you choose to provide.
  • Technical information needed to deliver and protect the website: our hosting and web infrastructure may process information such as IP addresses, request information, browser or device information and security logs as part of serving the website, preventing abuse and diagnosing technical problems.

Why we use this information

  • To respond to messages and manage correspondence.
  • To operate, secure and troubleshoot the website.
  • To investigate misuse, security incidents or technical faults.
  • To meet legal obligations where they apply.

Lawful bases

Where UK data-protection law applies, we normally rely on legitimate interests to respond to ordinary website enquiries and to operate and secure First Dog. Our legitimate interests are running the website, communicating with people who contact us and protecting the site from misuse. Where processing is required by law, we may rely on legal obligation. If a different lawful basis becomes appropriate for a new service, this notice will be updated.

Who may receive the information?

We use service providers where necessary to operate the site and business communications. This currently includes Hostinger for website hosting and business email. Those providers may process technical or communications data on our behalf as part of providing their services.

We do not sell your personal information to advertisers.

How long we keep information

Ordinary email enquiries are kept only for as long as they remain useful for the enquiry, record keeping or a related legal need, and are periodically reviewed for deletion. Technical and security logs are retained according to the needs and configuration of the hosting service and are not kept by First Dog for longer than needed for website operation and security.

Analytics and marketing

At the date of this notice, First Dog has not activated Google Analytics or an email-marketing programme. We intend to update this privacy notice and the Cookie Policy before introducing analytics or other technologies that materially change how personal information is used.

Cookies

The website may use cookies or similar storage that are technically necessary for WordPress, security, administration or other essential site functions. A fuller Cookie Policy will describe the final launch cookie and consent setup before non-essential analytics is enabled.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you rights over your personal information, including rights of access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and data portability. Some rights are subject to conditions or exemptions.

To ask about your information or exercise a data-protection right, email hello@firstdog.co.uk.

Complaints

If you have a concern about how we use your personal information, please contact us first so we can look into it. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.

Changes to this notice

We will update this notice when the services or data-processing activities on First Dog materially change.
